...After that, it flourished as a commercial hub connecting the Balkans and Northeastern Europe. After its destruction by the Mongol invasion in the 13th century, a new town was built on the current castle hill and named Buda (German: Ofen), and the old Buda was called Óbuda. Little Pest disappeared, and only Pest on the left bank was rebuilt.
