Paramārtha (English spelling)

…A visiting monk from the Liang and Chen periods of the Southern Dynasties in China. He was a Brahmin from the Ujjaini kingdom in western India, and was called Paramārtha, which was translated into Chinese as Zhenji. He accepted an invitation from Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty, traveled from Funan to Guangzhou, and arrived in Jiankang (Nanjing) in 548 (the second year of the Taiqing Dynasty). However, he was caught up in the rebellion of Hou Jing, and moved from place to place, devoting himself to translating the Buddhist scriptures into Chinese and writing. …
