Biography

In 1996, he formed the rock band Zero with Mike Shinoda (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Brad Delson (guitar), Rob Bourdon (drums), and Joe Hahn (DJ), and took on the bass role. In 1999, Chester Bennington (vocals) joined the band, making it a sextet, and they changed their name to Hybrid Theory. They aimed to create an aggressive sound by fusing hip-hop, punk, and industrial elements. They later changed their name to Linkin Park, and released their first album, Hybrid Theory, in October 2000. It became a huge hit, reaching number two in the US, and quickly sold about 15 million copies worldwide, making them a rising star in the rock world. They first came to Japan for a concert in 2001. The album was nominated in three categories at the 2002 Grammy Awards, and won the Best Hard Rock Performance category. In 2003, she released her second album, Meteora, which debuted at number one on the US charts. In 2006, her collaboration with Jay-Z, "Num/Encore," won a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. In the same year, she came to Japan to perform at Summer Sonic. In 2007, she released her third album, Minutes to Midnight, which was also a huge hit around the world, and the single "What I've Done" from the album was chosen as the theme song for the Michael Bay film "Transformers." In July 2007, she appeared at Live Earth, held at Makuhari Messe, and in November, she toured Japan solo. Her other albums include "A Thousand Sons" (2010), "Living Things" (2012), and "The Hunting Party" (2014).

1996年マイク・シノダ(ボーカル,ギター,キーボード)、ブラッド・デルソン(ギター)、ロブ・ボードン(ドラムス)、ジョー・ハーン(DJ)とロックバンド、ゼロを結成してベースを担当。’99年チェスター・ベニントン(ボーカル)が加入して6人組となり、バンド名をハイブリット・セオリーに変更。ヒップホップ、パンク、インダストリアルなどを融合した攻撃的な音を目指し、曲作りを行う。その後、バンド名をリンキン・パークに改め、2000年10月ファーストアルバム「ハイブリッド・セオリー」を発表。全米第2位の大ヒットとなり、瞬く間に世界中で約1500万枚を売り上げるなど一躍ロック界の新星として注目を集める存在となった。2001年公演で初来日。2002年グラミー賞では同作が3部門にノミネートされ、ベスト・ハードロック・パフォーマンス部門を受賞。2003年セカンドアルバム「メテオラ」を発表し、全米チャート初登場で第1位を獲得。2006年にはジェイ・Zとのコラボレーションによる「ナム/アンコール」がグラミー賞のベスト・ラップ/ソング・コラボレーション部門を受賞。同年サマーソニック出演のため来日。2007年3枚目のアルバムとなる「ミニッツ・トゥ・ミッドナイト」も世界中で大ヒットし、同作からのシングル「ワット・アイブ・ダン」はマイケル・ベイ監督の映画「トランスフォーマー」の主題歌に選ばれた。2007年7月幕張メッセで開催されたライブアースに出演、11月には単独での日本ツアーを行った。他のアルバムに「ア・サウザンド・サンズ」(2010年)、「リヴィング・シングス」(2012年)、「ザ・ハンティング・パーティー」(2014年)などがある。
