Diaper rash

Japanese: おむつかぶれ

Also known as diaper dermatitis. The area that comes into contact with the diaper becomes red and inflamed. It is caused by irritation from ammonia, a product of urine decomposition. To prevent this, keep the area clean, change diapers frequently, and choose diapers and covers that are breathable. To treat, give the animal a bath, wash thoroughly, and apply tincture oil or ointments containing corticosteroids. If the condition is difficult to treat, it must be differentiated from cutaneous candidiasis. → Dermatitis

おむつ皮膚炎ともいう。おむつに接触する部分が赤くただれた状態。尿の分解生成物アンモニアの刺激による。予防には局所を清潔にし，おむつを頻繁(ひんぱん)に交換，通気性のよいおむつやカバーを選ぶ。治療は入浴させてよく洗い，チンク油，副腎皮質ホルモン入り軟膏などを塗る。難治の場合は，皮膚カンジダ症との鑑別が必要である。→皮膚炎
