It is a rather large butterfly with a span of 7-8cm. Its Japanese name comes from the two tail-like protrusions on its hind wings. Its wings have black markings on a pale yellow background, and the undersides have a beautiful silvery-white luster. Females are slightly larger than males, and have rounded wings.
