R & B (English)

...Popular music by African-Americans, popular from the 1940s to the 1960s. It is also called R & B for short. The core of the genre is blues, with the introduction of electric instruments to emphasize the beat, and elements of jazz and gospel songs, but it is a fairly broad term that also includes small choruses with a light beat called doo-wop and sweet love ballads by solo singers. In the 1960s, it was succeeded by more sophisticated soul music, and the term fell out of use.
