…a spiritual movement that arose in Germany in the early 17th century. It was a secret society that emerged with the publication of four fundamental documents by anonymous authors. Its members called themselves "Men of the Rosenkreuz" after its fictitious founder, Christian Rosenkreuz. The four fundamental documents were the pamphlet "The Universal and General Reformation of the Whole World" published in Kassel in 1614, its appendix "The Legend of the Rosicrucians," "The Creed of the Rosicrucians" published in 1615, and finally the satirical allegorical novel "The Chemical Wedding" published in Strasbourg in 1616.
