Kabuki script. Domestic drama. Three acts. Written by Tsuruya Nanboku IV. First performed at the Moritaza Theater in Edo in 1813 ( Bunka 10 ). Iwai Hanshiro V performed seven roles in quick succession: Osome, Hisamatsu, his sister Takekawa, Osome's mother-in-law Teimasa, Oroku on the bank, Hisamatsu's fiancee Omitsu, and Osaku, a woman of low rank.
