Iwai Hanshiro V performed seven roles in quick succession: Osome, Hisamatsu, his sister Takekawa, Osome's mother-in-law Teimasa, Oroku on the bank, Hisamatsu's fiancee Omitsu, and Osaku, a woman of low rank.
