Vaccines designed to confer immunity against two or three diseases at the same time include a combination of diphtheria toxoid and pertussis vaccine (DP), a combination of diphtheria toxoid and pertussis vaccine plus tetanus toxoid (DPT), a combination of diphtheria toxoid and tetanus toxoid (DT), and a combination vaccine of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). Using a combination vaccine not only reduces the number of vaccinations, but also reduces the amount of each vaccination, as the synergistic effects of the individual vaccines can be expected.

2～3種の病気に対して同時に免疫を与えるためにつくられたワクチン。ジフテリアトキソイドと百日咳ワクチンとを混合したもの (DP) ，これに破傷風トキソイドを加えたもの (DPT) ，ジフテリアトキソイドと破傷風トキソイドを混合したもの (DT) ，はしか (麻疹) ，おたふくかぜ，風疹の混合ワクチン (MMR) などがある。混合ワクチンを用いれば，接種回数を減らせるだけでなく，各ワクチンの相乗的な効果も期待できるので，1回の接種量を減量することもできる。
