Tanz

In Switzerland and the Netherlands it became dans, in Denmark it became dands, in Portugal it became danca, and in Italy it became danza. In Germany, due to Grimm's Law, it became Tanz. The word danson and Tanz share the common "an," which is related to the Sanskrit "tan," meaning "tension" or "stretch."
