...a conical tent used as a dwelling by the Plains Indians of North America. Also written as tepee. The Great Plains is a vast area stretching from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains, where many tribes, including the Blackfoot, lived, but they all shared the common practice of hunting in groups by following herds of wild bison.
