...The name comes from the Middle French toaille (cloth for washing and drying). It is also called terry cloth, but terry comes from the French tirer, which means to pull out, and the name was given to it because the fabric threads are pulled out to make the rings. To weave the rings on the surface of the fabric, the pile warp and ground warp are wound separately and double-weave loom is used, and the tension of the pile warp threads is weakened to create a ring-shaped pile by the difference in tension with the ground warp threads, the beating method, and the structure.
