Lake Basin (English spelling)

...the rivers flowing down from the surrounding mountains form alluvial fans at the foot of the mountains (the edge of the basin) and join within the basin. Sometimes, lakes and marshes form in the center of the basin (lake basins), but in humid regions such as Japan, water drains from the lowest point of the surrounding mountains and has an outlet into the open ocean. However, in the dry regions of the interior of the continents, there are many inland basins that have no outlet to the open ocean and have salt lakes in their centers because of the high evaporation of water.
