Tristan, the nephew of Mark, King of Cornwall, and Isolde (Iseut in French), the Irish princess who was to marry Mark, accidentally drank wine laced with an aphrodisiac and fell passionately in love. After being banished to the forest of Morois, the two were forced to separate, but their love remained unchanged. Eventually, Tristan, who was seriously injured, could not wait for Isolde to arrive and died, and Isolde followed him to her death. ...
