Idiopathic cardiomyopathy

…A general term for diseases that affect the myocardium and cause cardiac enlargement and hypertrophy. Those with an unknown cause are called idiopathic cardiomyopathy, and those with a clear connection to a diagnosed systemic disease are called special myocardial diseases (previously called secondary cardiomyopathy). However, since the latter can be described by the name of the systemic disease, in most cases the word cardiomyopathy refers to idiopathic cardiomyopathy.
