Ibn Babuya (English spelling)

…Like the Sunnites, they recognize the Hadith as the second authority after the Quran, but also place importance on the akhbār, which is a compilation of the words and deeds of each imam. The authoritative divine writings of this sect were created during the Buyid dynasty and consist of four books: "Al-Kāfī fī 'ilm al-dīn" (Outline of Religious Learning) by Kulaynī (?-939/940), "Man la yaḥḍruhu al-faqīh" (A Book that Does Not Require Going to the Jurists) by Ibn Bābūya (c. 923-991), "Kitāb al-istibṣār" (Consideration of Hadith) and "Kitāb al-tahdhib al-aḥkām" (The Completion of Islamic Law) by TuṬūsī (c. 995-1067). The Akhbarid school in the 17th century insisted on following this divine tradition and leaving no room for the interpretation of jurists.
