…The singular form is Charis. In Latin it is called Gratiae, and in English Graces. Originally a symbol of the joy brought by the abundant blessings of nature, the number and names of the three sisters are not fixed, but usually, following Hesiod's Theogony, they are assigned to the three sisters Aglaia (Brightness), Euphrosynē (Joy), and Thaleia (Flowering), whose father was Zeus.
