In both cases, when the desert becomes dry, ephemeral plants appear, which germinate and bear fruit in a short period of time after rare rains. In boreal and alpine deserts, there are many rocky areas, and in addition to lichens and mosses, there are many epigeic rock-crevice plants such as rosette plants and hemispherical cushion plants.
