Eocambrian period

...The Precambrian Era, which lasted for about 3 billion years after life first emerged, is called the Cryptozoic Era because there were only tiny shell-less primitive organisms. However, during the last 100 million years or so, large shell-less invertebrates developed rapidly (represented by the Ediacara fauna of Australia and the Nectarini fauna of Africa), so some have suggested that this period should be separated as the Eocambrian period, the first period of the Phanerozoic Era, and therefore the first period of the Paleozoic Era. The most important event in the Paleozoic Era is the remarkable development of life.
