Drachenloch

Japanese: Drachenloch
Drachenloch

... The remains of hunting rituals are notable in the caves and rock shelters of the Paleolithic period in Europe, which not only show depictions of spears stuck in the flesh of prey, but also have clear footprints of dancing Neanderthals on the floor (Tuc d'Audouber cave, France, Late Paleolithic). The accumulation of bear skulls in a cave (Drachenloch cave, Switzerland) is said to be related to hunting rituals, as are the semicircular arrangement of dolphin skulls (Higashikushiro shell mound, Kushiro City), the buried mandibles of 118 wild boars (mostly young ones) in a hole (Kinsei site, Yamanashi Prefecture), and the collection of bear skulls on an altar (Moyoro shell mound, Abashiri City) of the Okhotsk culture. As for agricultural rituals, in the early Neolithic settlements of Western Asia, free-standing buildings (Jericho in Palestine) or parts of buildings (Çatalhöyük in Turkey) were used as shrines.
