When the radius is small and the wind speed is high, such as in the center of a typhoon or a tornado, the Coriolis force is negligibly small compared to the centrifugal force. In this case, the hypothetical wind that blows when the centrifugal force and the pressure gradient force are perfectly balanced is called a gyrostrophic wind.
