Chat Noir (English)

...It is a bar with a stage and a dance hall for entertaining customers, and the word is said to have its origin in French. The original form of the bar dates back to 1881, when Rudolphe Salis (1852-97) invited actors, poets, musicians, and painters to create Chat Noir, a bar in Montmartre, Paris. It was the creation of a new type of public entertainment that combined bars, art, current affairs, laughter, and fun.
