…It is a regional competition officially recognized by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) that is held in principle once every four years, in the middle of the Olympic year. Until the 9th competition (1982, India), it was hosted by the Asian Games Federation (AGF), but at the end of 1982, the AGF was reorganized to be hosted by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Before World War II, there were two Asian sporting competitions, the Far Eastern Championship Games and the West Asian Games, but after the war, there was a movement centered around India and the Philippines to integrate these and hold an all-Asian competition, and the formation of the IOC was decided upon by discussions between Asian countries that participated in the 1948 London Olympics. …
