Liu Yu (English spelling)

Japanese: 劉予 - りゅうよ(英語表記)Liu Yu; Liu Yü
Liu Yu (English spelling)
[Birth] Gentoyo 1 (1078)
[Died] 3rd year of the Imperial line (1143)
Emperor of the state of Qi, which existed in northern China during the early Jin dynasty (reigned 1130-37). His pen name was Yanyou. He was from Fucheng, Jingzhou (Hebei Province). He initially served the Southern Song dynasty as the prefect of Jinan, but surrendered to the Jin dynasty after an attack by Ta La, the emperor of Tianhui 6 (28). However, the Jin dynasty was not confident in Liu Yu's ability to manage the northern part of China that they had occupied, so they entrusted him with the control of Shandong and Henan, and in the eighth year of the same year, as feudal lord, Liu Yu was enthroned as Emperor of the Great Qi dynasty. He later moved to Dongping, changed the name to Fuchang, and the following year was given the Shaanxi region. In the tenth year of the same year, he moved to Bianjing, where he established a national system, but when this puppet state was abolished with the downfall of Zong Han, who supported the continuation of the state of Qi, he became King of Shu, and later was enfeoffed as King of Cao.
