A city in southern California, USA, 88 km southeast of Los Angeles. Settlement began in the 1870s, and citrus cultivation took place. In particular, the city developed due to the success of navel orange cultivation in 1878. It was incorporated as a city in 1883. Intensive cultivation of palm, pepper, orange, etc. is popular. In recent years, the manufacturing industry of aircraft engines and precision equipment has also developed. There are many universities, including the University of California, Riverside.
