A Chinese scholar from the Sui and Tang dynasties. He was from Wu County (Jiangsu Province). His given name was Yuan Lang. He is known by his pen name Deming. He was one of the "18 Scholars of the Qin King" during the early Tang Dynasty. He was well versed in Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, and became an assistant professor to the Sui Emperor and a doctor to the Tang Emperor, receiving the title of Man of Wu County. He wrote works such as "Issue" (Dictionary), but only "Commentary on the Classics" (30 volumes) has been handed down. This book clarifies the transmission and pronunciation of the "Shangshu, Shi, Sanryu, Sanshu, Book of Filial Piety, Analects, and Erya," making it an indispensable book for the study of classics.

中国，隋，唐の学者。呉県 (江蘇省) の人。名は元朗。字の徳明で伝わる。唐初のいわゆる「秦王の 18学士」の一人。儒，仏，道三教に通じ，隋の国子助教，唐の国子博士となり，呉県男に封じられた。『易説』などの著があったが，『経典釈文』 (30巻) だけが伝わる。これは，「尚書，詩，三礼，三伝，孝経，論語，爾雅 (じが) 」の伝事と音訓を明らかにしているもので，経学上不可欠の書。
