A former town in Nakakanbara County, central Niigata Prefecture. The town's center, Muramatsu, is located in the Muramatsu Basin in the west. During the Edo Period, it was a castle town, and after the Meiji Period, it developed into a military town when an infantry regiment was stationed there. The knitwear industry is thriving, and Muramatsu tea is a specialty of the town. Incorporated into Gosen City in January 2006. 253.07 km2 . Population: 20,730 (2003). 新潟県中部，中蒲原(なかかんばら)郡の旧町。中心の村松は西部の村松盆地にあり，江戸時代は城下町，明治以後歩兵連隊が駐屯して以来，軍都として発展。ニット産業が盛んで，村松茶を特産。2006年１月五泉市へ編入。253.07km2。２万730人（2003）。
