Miyazaki Plain - Miyazaki Heiya

Also known as the Hyuga Plain. A plain that spreads across the lower reaches of the Oyo-do and Hitotsuse Rivers in central Miyazaki Prefecture. A triangular coastal plain with Mimitsu in Hyuga City, Aya in Aya Town, and Aoshima in Miyazaki City at its apexes, covering an area of approximately 800 ^km2 . Approximately two-thirds of the plain is made up of alluvial plateaus. The plateaus are called "hara" (plains), and include Nyutabaru in Shintomi Town, Chausubaru in Saito City, and Saitobaru in Saito City, and Mutsunobaru in Kunitomi Town. The Omaru River, Hitotsuse River, and Oyo-do River have eroded this plateau from the north, forming alluvial plains downstream. Sand dunes have developed on the coast from the north bank of the Oyo-do River to the Omaru River. The climate is hot and rainy, with an average annual temperature of around 16.5°C and precipitation of around 2000mm, the second hottest and rainiest region in the prefecture after Nichinan. The main industry in the plains is agriculture, with livestock farming on the plateau, early-season rice cultivation on the alluvial land, and greenhouse horticulture such as cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and pumpkins as second crops in paddy fields and on sand dunes. Miyazaki City and Saito City are located in the plains, and they form the political, economic, and cultural centers of the prefecture. The Nichinan Line branches off from the JR Nippo Main Line, and Route 219, Route 220, and Route 268 branch off from Route 10, and bus routes run on these roads. Tourist attractions include Osuzu Prefectural Natural Park, Saitobaru Sugiyasukyo Prefectural Natural Park, Saitobaru Kofun Park, Prefectural Heiwadai Park, and Nichinan Coast Quasi-National Park.

別称日向平野。宮崎県中部の大淀川，一ツ瀬川の下流域に広がる平野。日向市美々津 (みみつ) ，綾町の綾，宮崎市青島を頂点とした三角形の海岸平野で，面積約 800km²。平野の約3分の2は洪積台地が占める。台地は原 (はる) と呼ばれ，新富町の新田原 (にゅうたばる) ，西都市の茶臼原 (ちゃうすばる) ，西都原，国富町の六野原 (むつのばる) などがある。この台地を北から小丸川，一ツ瀬川，大淀川が浸食して下流に沖積地を形成。大淀川北岸から小丸川にかけて海岸に砂丘が発達している。気候は，年平均気温 16.5℃前後，降水量は 2000mm前後を示して，県内で日南地域に次いで高温多雨である。平野の産業は農業が中心で，台地上では畜産，沖積地では早期水稲栽培，水田裏作や砂丘地帯作物としてキュウリ，トマト，ピーマン，カボチャなどの施設園芸が行われる。平野には宮崎市，西都市があり，県内の政治，経済，文化の中心をなしている。 JR日豊本線から日南線が分れ，国道 10号線から 219号線，220号線，268号線が分岐，バス路線がこれらの道路を走っている。観光地として尾鈴県立自然公園，西都原杉安峡県立自然公園，西都原古墳公園，県立平和台公園，日南海岸国定公園などがある。
