A classification of Shomyo songs (phonology). Also pronounced "bongo no san." A type of hymn written in Sanskrit. The original text is in verse, but most of them are written in Chinese characters, making it difficult to grasp the rhythm of the poem. There are many pieces, including the "Shichi Sango San," which is widely used across various sects, "Kitsuke Sango San," "Shinryaku Sango San (also called Dainichi San or Dainichi Sho San)," "Dainichi San (also called Dainichi Dai San)," "Buddha San," "Sang San," "Fudo San," "Tobo San," "Saiho San," "Hundred Character San," and "Hundred and Eight San (part of which is called the Shiharamitsusan)."
