Ancient documents collected by the Akita Domain

Japanese: 秋田藩採集古文書 - あきたはんさいしゅうこもんじょ

This is a collection of ancient documents that the Akita Domain forced its retainers to submit documents, records, genealogies, etc. from their family archives, which were then transcribed and compiled. It was created as part of the project to compile the Satake family genealogy, which was started by Akita Domain lord Satake Yoshitokoro in 1696 (Genroku 9), and now numbers 67 volumes, including later additions. Volume 1 contains a list of documents, followed by six volumes of official documents that are a collection of documents addressed to the Satake clan, and then 60 volumes compiled by family and chronology, in the order of the Satake clan, senior vassals, and hatamoto samurai. The six official documents were owned by the Satake family, the domain's lord, and the Satake documents held by the Historiographical Institute of the University of Tokyo are photocopied versions of those documents.

秋田藩が藩士に家蔵の文書，記録，系図等を提出させ，謄写，編纂した古文書集。1696年(元禄9)秋田藩主佐竹義処が開始した佐竹家譜編纂事業の一環として作成され，後年の追加編纂部分を含めて67冊を数える。第1巻に文書目録，次に佐竹氏あて文書の集成たる御文書6冊，以下佐竹一門一家，重臣，旗本諸士の順に家別，編年で編纂した60冊を配する。御文書6冊は藩主佐竹家に所蔵されていたもので，東大史料編纂所所蔵の佐竹文書はその影写本。
