Furubira [town] - Furubira
Furubira County, Hokkaido. Occupying the eastern part of the Shakotan Peninsula, it has been developed as a fishing ground since the Edo period. In the Meiji period, it prospered through herring fishing, but declined after the early Showa period. It is home to Furubira Fishing Port, one of the best ports in Hokkaido. The coast is part of the Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Coast Quasi-National Park. 188.36 km2 . 3,611 people (2010).

北海道古平郡の町。積丹(しゃこたん)半島の東部を占め，江戸時代から漁場として開けた。明治時代にはニシン漁で栄えたが，昭和初期以後衰微。北海道でも有数の良港の古平漁港がある。海岸はニセコ積丹小樽海岸国定公園に属する。188.36km2。3611人（2010）。
