Side effect - Fukusayo (English spelling)

Japanese: 副作用 - ふくさよう（英語表記）side effect

This refers to effects that occur when a medical procedure (usually drug administration) is performed in the hope of achieving a certain effect, other than the expected effect of that procedure. Although the term originally refers to effects other than the main effect, when the term "side effects" is used it generally refers to harmful effects. Side effects include those caused by allergies, those caused by toxicity (damage), those in which the main effect is too strong, and those that occur secondary to the main effect, such as nausea.
