Fukaura [town] - Fukaura

Japanese: 深浦[町] - ふかうら

A town in Nishitsugaru district, western Aomori prefecture. Facing the Sea of Japan to the west, the Gono Line runs along the coast. Fukaura, in the center, is a good port that flourished as a trading port for the Tsugaru domain, but is now a small fishing port and a port of refuge. Odose, Henashizaki, and Fukaura coast are rich in beauty. In 1993, the Shirakami Mountains were registered on the list of natural heritage sites under the World Heritage Convention. In March 2005, Iwasaki village in Nishitsugaru district was incorporated. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 488.89 ^km2 . 9,691 people (2010).

青森県西部，西津軽郡の町。西は日本海に臨み，海岸沿いに五能線が通じる。中心の深浦は良港で，津軽藩の交易港として栄えたが，現在は小漁港，避難港。大戸瀬(おおどせ)，艫作(へなし)崎，深浦海岸は海岸美に富む。1993年白神山地が世界遺産条約の自然遺産リストに登録された。2005年３月西津軽郡岩崎村を編入。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。488.89km²。9691人（2010）。
