Bingo Nada

This area occupies the center of the Seto Inland Sea, and spans both Okayama and Hiroshima prefectures. The eastern part is limited to Shiraishi Island, Kitagi Island, and Muto Island of the Shiwaku Islands in the Kasaoka Islands, while the western part is limited to Yuge Island and Innoshima Island in the Geiyo Islands, and the southern part is connected to Hiuchi Nada. The water is about 20 meters deep, but there are some areas in the northern, eastern, and western parts that are deeply carved out. Coastal fishing and aquaculture of sea bream, Spanish mackerel, octopus, squid, and shrimp are practiced here. The coast is home to Fukuyama City and other central cities of the Setouchi industrial region, and it is a major transportation route with heavy ship traffic. Meanwhile, the Geiyo Islands to the west are spanned by the Onomichi-Imabari route (West Setouchi Expressway = Setouchi Shimanami Kaido), a bridge linking Honshu and Shikoku.

瀬戸内海の中央部を占める海域で、岡山、広島両県にまたがる。東部は笠岡(かさおか)諸島の白石(しらいし)島、北木島や塩飽(しわく)諸島の六島などに、西部は芸予諸島の弓削(ゆげ)島、因島(いんのしま)などに限られ、南は燧(ひうち)灘に続く。水深は20メートル内外であるが、北部、東部、西部では深くえぐられた所もある。タイ、サワラ、タコ、イカ、エビなどの沿岸漁業や養殖漁業が行われている。沿岸には福山市などの瀬戸内工業地域の拠点都市があり、主要交通ルートとして船舶の往来は激しい。一方、西方の芸予諸島には本州四国連絡橋の尾道(おのみち)―今治(いまばり)ルート（西瀬戸自動車道＝瀬戸内しまなみ海道）が架かる。
