Morning Star - Akatsuki no Myoujo

Japanese: 暁の明星 - あかつきのみょうじょう

The title of a Kyogen Komai-yo song. It tells of the morning when a man stays the night with a woman, they cling to each other, sad to say goodbye, and declare how dear they are to each other. The song has a light and witty feel, but also a rich and sensual emotion, and a lively Kyogen rhythm. In addition to being sung and danced on its own, it is also used in the Kyogen plays "Boshishiki" and "Hanaori." It is also used in the Joruri and Kabuki plays "Oniichi Hōgen Sanryaku-maki" - The Tale of the Minister of Finance. [Haneda Akira]
