Italian historical philosopher and legal scholar. Professor of rhetoric at the University of Naples. At the height of Cartesianism, he advocated a progressively new theory of learning and philosophy of history based on his original epistemology that "what is true is fabricated," and contributed to the development of natural law thought. Following Herder and Croce, his work is currently being reevaluated. His works include The Ancient Wisdom of the Italians (1710), Principles of the Universal Law (1720-1722), and The New Science (1725). → Related topics Social sciences Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
