An ancient ruin in a small village of the same name in Udon Thani Province, northeastern Thailand. Excavations began in 1966 after painted earthenware was discovered, and so far earthenware and ironware with geometric and spiral patterns, glass beads, bronze objects, and human bones have been unearthed. Some of the bronze objects are estimated to have been made around 6500 BC, which has sparked debate about the establishment of the Bronze Age culture in this area, but the current theory that it dates back to around 3500 BC is widely accepted. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1992. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
