Beach. ※Kojiki (712), part 2, folk song: “The plover on the beach does not go to the waves, but to the iso- danfu.”② In Osaka, it means a riverside or a riverbank. ※Ukiyo-zoshi, Seken Mune-sanyo (1692), vol. 2: “The boat festival of Tenma is a sight to behold, and the happiness of the seats on the beach is unfolding.”③ A market set up on a beach or riverbank. In the Middle Ages, it was the Hamaichi in front of the Shitennoji temple in Osaka. In the early modern period, it was the riverbank of Dojima in Osaka, where a rice market was held. Also, it was a person involved in the rice market. ※Teikin Orai (c. 1394-1428): “Bonkyo townspeople, hama merchants, Kamakura customs.”④ In Go, a stone removed from the board. Sometimes used in a pun with the meaning of ①. Ageishi. Agehama. Beach rock. ※Shui (1005-07?) Zosha, 552 "The white waves beat and the number of beach stones piles up (Emperor Murakami)"⑤ (Abbreviation of "Shiohama (Salt Beach)") Salt fields. ⑥ In the pleasure quarters of Shinagawa in Edo, it means a "view point" that corresponds to a reception room or guest room.
