1903‐80 Italian socialist. Born in northern Italy. Impressed by the Russian Revolution, he joined the Socialist Party, but criticized traditional political ideology and studied Marxism. He cooperated with P. Gobbetti's activities and continued the anti-fascist struggle, seeking a socialist party that could overcome reformism and revolutionism and take unified class action. As a member of parliament from 1946 onwards, he aspired to cooperate with the Communist Party.
