Japanese: ハサミムシ(鋏虫) - ハサミムシ

A species of insect in the family Dermaptera, or a general term for insects in the same order. The earwig Anisolabis maritima (illustration) is also known as the common seashore earwig. Its body length, including the claws (tail claws), is 18-35 mm. Its body is flat and thick, completely wingless, and shiny black-brown overall, except for its yellowish-brown antennae and legs. The male's claws are highly asymmetrical, with the right side curved strongly. It is found almost throughout the world, and throughout Japan.

ハサミムシ目ハサミムシ科の昆虫の1種，または同目の昆虫の総称。ハサミムシAnisolabis maritima（イラスト）は別名ハマベハサミムシとも呼ばれ，英名もcommon seashore earwigである。体長ははさみ(尾鋏)を含め18～35mm。体は扁平で太く，翅はまったくなく，黄褐色の触角と脚を除けば，全体的に光沢のある黒褐色である。雄のはさみは著しく不対称で，右側が強く湾曲している。ほとんど世界中に分布し，日本全国に分布している。
