It is a deciduous medium-to-large tree of the Euphorbiaceae family, growing to a height of 10 m and a diameter of 35 cm. The bark is gray-brown with reddish-brown lenticels. The leaves are alternate, with reddish-brown petioles 2-6 cm long and leaf blades 4-8 cm long, 3-6 cm wide, diamond-shaped ovate with a tail-like tip, entire, glabrous, and slightly leathery. There are two glandular dots at the top of the petiole. The flowers are small yellow flowers that grow in racemes at the ends of the branches in June and July, with male flowers at the top and several female flowers at the base. The fruit is an oblate capsule about 1.5 cm in diameter with three lobes that dehisce and release three seeds when ripe around November.
