Cargo storage fees paid by shippers who entrust their cargo to a warehouse operator. Until the early Showa period, this term was used as a commercial term, but today it is called warehouse storage fees. In the Edo period, storehouses in Osaka stored rice free of charge for 30 days after it was sold at auction. In practice, however, the free storage period (called "oeidashi") was gradually extended to 9-18 months. After "oeidashi", a storehouse fee of 1-2 sho per day for every 10 koku was collected, but if this reached 1 koku, the stored rice was sold and the rice was kept in exchange for cash.
