He was the child of thunder that appears in the Nihon Ryōiki, and a monk at Gangō-ji Temple. When a farmer in Katawa Village, Ayuchi County, Owari Province, was drawing water for his rice field, a child-like thunder fell from the sky. When he tried to strike it with his golden staff, the thunder begged for its life, promised to give him a child, and ascended to heaven in a water tank with camphor bamboo leaves floating in it. The farmer had a boy with a snake wrapped around his head. At the age of about 10, the boy competed against the Imperial Court's Rikiō in a strength contest and won. It is said that when he threw a stone, his footprints were left three inches deep. He became a boy at Gangō-ji Temple, drove away demons, and put an end to the monsters at the bell tower.
