Touka no Sechie - Touka no Sechie
During the Heian period, a lottery was held at the Imperial Court in New Year's Day, where a toka performance was held. It was first held on the 16th at the Buraku Palace. Later, male toka was held on the 14th or 15th at the Shishin Palace, and female toka on the 16th. For the male toka, the Emperor appears and presents sake to the king and nobles, then the Kuzu plays the uta flute and offers sacrifices. After the singing of the o- uta-dokoro , the dancers perform toka. After the banquet, the king and nobles are given stipends. The female toka is largely similar. Male toka was abolished in the Middle Ages. "Arare bishiri no toyo no akari " (Toyo no akari in abundance) . [Season: New Year] [Shukaisho (13th-14th century)]
