Japanese: 月夜野[町] - つきよの

An old town in Tone District, northern Gunma Prefecture. Located near the confluence of the Tone River and Akaya River, most of the area is mountainous. The Joetsu Line and Kan'etsu Expressway pass through the town, and Jomo-Kogen Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen is located here. The central town of Gokan is a key transportation hub. Agriculture, including rice and field crops, is the town's main industry. In October 2005, it merged with Minakami Town and Niiharu Village in Tone District to become Minakami Town in Tone District. Area: 70.76 ^km2 . Population: 11,368 (2003).

群馬県北部，利根郡の旧町。利根川と赤谷(あかや)川の合流点付近を占め，大部分が山地。上越線，関越自動車道が通じ，上越新幹線の上毛高原駅がある。中心市街の後閑(ごかん)は交通の要地。稲作，畑作などの農業を基幹産業とする。2005年10月，利根郡水上町，新治村と合併し町制，利根郡みなかみ町となる。70.76km²。１万1368人（2003）。
