1040‐1113 The third king of the Pagan dynasty in Myanmar. Reigned 1084-1113. His name appears on inscriptions as Teering Myint. His Sanskrit title is Sri Tribhuwana Aditya Dhamma Raja (Auspicious Three Realms Sun King). Kyansittha's name suggests that he was of non-royal origin, with "Chan" meaning "official" and "Sittha" meaning "soldier," originating from the Burmese word karang from the Pagan period. After Anawrahta's death, Sorlu, who succeeded him to the throne, was killed in a Mon rebellion, and Kyansittha was nominated to take the throne to settle the unstable country.
