1910‐79 An Iranian religious leader (ulama). Born in Tareghan, Iran. After studying at the Rezabiyeh and Fayziyeh schools in the holy city of Qom, he taught at Sepahsarar School. Around the time of World War II, he openly engaged in anti-government activities, and was repeatedly arrested, imprisoned, and exiled. During this time, he organized the Iranian Liberation Movement Nehzat-e Āzādī ye-Īrān with Bazargan and others in 1961.
