A town in Kitasaku County in central Nagano Prefecture. It occupies the northern slope of Mt. Tateshina and is long and narrow from north to south. Ashida, in the center, is a former post station on the Nakasendo road. Rice and apples are cultivated here, and medicinal ginseng is also produced. Lake Shirakaba is located in the south, and tourism is also progressing. Get there by bus from Komoro City. 66.87 km 2 . 7,707 people (2010). 長野県中部，北佐久郡の町。蓼科(たてしな)山北斜面を占め，南北に細長い。中心の芦田は中山道の旧宿駅。米作，リンゴ栽培が行われ，薬用ニンジンも産する。南部には白樺湖があり，観光開発も進む。小諸市からバス。66.87km2。7707人（2010）。
