Taiwaden (English name)

Japanese: 太和殿 - たいわでん（英語表記）Tài hé diàn

The largest of the three main halls of the outer court of the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. This palace was used for important ceremonies such as the enthronement of the emperor, holiday ceremonies such as New Year's Day, and the issuance of imperial edicts. When it was first built during the Ming Dynasty it was called the Fengtian Hall, later renamed the Kokyokuden, and in 1645 (Shunzhi 2) during the Qing Dynasty it was renamed the Taihe Hall. Standing on a triple platform made of white marble with ornately carved balustrades and staircases, it is the largest wooden building of its kind, with a large double-gabled roof made of yellow glazed tiles, and all of its details, from coloring to furnishings, are of the highest quality. 中国，北京の紫禁城の外朝三大殿のうち最大の正殿。皇帝の即位や元旦などの祝日の式典，詔書の頒布などの大典が行われた宮殿で，明代創建時には奉天殿といい，のちに皇極殿，清の1645年(順治2)に太和殿と改称した。華麗な彫刻の高欄･階段をもつ白大理石造の三重基壇上に立ち，黄色琉璃瓦で二重寄棟造の大屋根をいただく最大規模の木造建築で，細部の彩色や調度にいたるまですべて最高級の形式を採用している。【田中淡】
