A connection line that a user rents from a communications company. Unlike circuit-switched services such as telephone, ISDN, and frame relay, it can transmit large volumes of data because it does not receive traffic from other users. Communication is carried out using a method called TDM (Time Division Multiplexer). It is billed under a fixed usage fee system that depends on the distance and capacity. ユーザーが通信業者から借り受ける接続回線。電話やISDN、フレームリレーなどの回線交換系のサービスと異なり、他のユーザーのトラフィックを受けないため大容量のデータ伝送が行なえる。TDM（Time Division Multiplexer：時分割多重）と呼ばれる方式を使って通信を行なう。距離と容量に応じて、定額の利用料を支払う課金体系になっている。
